The first visible sign of the Dayton International Airport’s Terminal Modernization Project is now open to the public. New pre-security restrooms, including two family restrooms, are now open. Additionally, a new Great American Bagel Bakery kiosk has opened pre-security offering freshly brewed coffee with an assortment of bagels and more.
“We are very proud construction is going smoothly with little disruption to our passengers,” said Terry Slaybaugh, Director of Dayton International Airport. “Every day we’re one step closer to a more appealing, easy to navigate terminal.”
The pre-security restrooms and two family restrooms are now open and match the previously renovated post-security restrooms. Glass tiles and water efficient fixtures ensure the airport’s suitability goals remain a major focus of the modernization efforts.
Morning coffee, bakery items, and quick-serve sandwiches are now available at the new Great American Bagel Bakery kiosk just inside the front doors of the terminal. Opening at 4:30 am until 11 am, passengers and guests can enjoy a bagel or muffin with their Seattle’s Best coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. An assortment of bottled drinks and quick serve items like sandwiches, fruit, and yogurt are also available.
Construction continues on the new United Service Organizations (USO) space adjacent to the new restrooms, expected to open mid-summer USO will continue to serve military families at their temporary location near to the TSA entrance until then. Beginning in mid-summer, Phase Two of the Terminal Modernization Project will focus on the center terminal entrance and drive lanes and continue work on the rental car addition to the garage.
Dayton International Airport and the City of Dayton will keep the public informed of the project status and new phases of work through news releases, Twitter, and monthly email updates.
