The New USO Center Opens with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

On Tuesday, August 21st, an opening ceremony was held for the new USO Center at Dayton International
Airport (DAY). Guests toured the new facility and explored the new lounge area and amenities for military
passengers and their families. A private, nonprofit organization, the USO’s mission is to support the troops by
providing snacks, a lounge area, and TV rooms.

“The USO’s mission to serve veterans and their families is incredibly important,” said Terry Slaybaugh, director of aviation for the City of Dayton. “We’re proud to have a completely upgraded space to better serve the active-duty and veteran passengers who have served our country.”

Ceremony speakers included City of Dayton elected officials and representatives from the United States Air Force and the USO.

“This new space is going to be incredibly important for our military passengers,” said Yolanda Young, DAY center manager. “There have already been several veterans who have enjoyed escaping to a quiet place to relax while they wait for their flight.”

The new USO center is located next to the recently renovated restrooms at the entrance of the terminal and is part of the ongoing terminal modernization project. Get the latest updates about this and other projects by subscribing to the airport’s monthly newsletter.
