Visitors to the Dayton International Airport will notice a short detour to the airport from National Road/US 40 as the Highway 40 Improvements Project continues. Monday, August 2 will mark the next phase of construction with the temporary closure of two ramps near the airport:
- Access ramp from southbound Airport Access Road / Terminal Drive to US 40
- Access ramp from US 40 to northbound Airport Access Road / Terminal Drive
This detour will use Concorde Drive, Freight Drive, Cargo Road, Boeing Drive, and Terminal Drive, and will be clearly marked with signage. The detour is expected to add less than five minutes of travel time to the airport, but the temporary ramp closures will allow the overall project to be completed in a shortened time frame.
The US 40 Improvements Project will widen a portion of US 40, which will create a better traffic flow to and from the airport. The project will also upgrade traffic signals and implement new, modernized ramps at the US 40 access point near Dayton International Airport.
